Choosing a Tree Surgeon

Tree surgery should always be carried out by competent experts who are fully trained and insured. Inexperience can lead to damage to property and trees and can result in serious injury.

Greenfields Tree Surgeons have vast experience of dealing with various projects, and are fully insured. Each member of the team is fully qualified with recognised arboricultural qualifications, ensuring a high standard of work and safety in all cases.

October The Fruit Garden. Tasks for this month.

Harvest apples as they ripen and pick late-keeping pears when well-coloured and easily parted from the tree.

Gather autumn raspberries and take cuttings of blackcurrants (this years shoots), red and white currants and gooseberries.

Prune well trained Morello cherries and pick walnuts as they begin to fall.

Prepare ground for new fruit trees and bushes.

If root pruning is necessary, now is the time to do it.

Roses, Shrubs and Trees

Plant new roses at the end of this month and early November.  Now is the time to dig well rotted organic manure into new rose beds.

You can also move roses that need transplanting now, shortening broken roots with pruners before planting.

Complete planting evergreen shrubs as soon as possible, especially in the north of the country, so that their roots can keep the leaves nurtured during the winter.

Make the most of fine weather to plant deciduous shrubs.
